Family Farmstead; the Beginning

My husband and I love. We love our family. We love each other. We love building. We love playing. We love farming. We love spending our time together. We love God, who has given us everything that we need, to have what we want. It is up to us to be good stewards of those gifts and to put them to work. …And we love our Farmstead!

The Goal – A Family Farmstead

Both of us wanted to have our own working farmstead, as that is the life that we choose. Being light on funds but heavy on goals led us to our current situation. We found a piece of land, 35 acres, that needed work but was certainly doable. The potential was there, we could see it, but we knew that it was going to be an undertaking that would not happen overnight.

That was a year and a half ago. In that time, we have certainly made a great deal of headway, but we still have quite a way to go. Two Oaks Farm Talk is a blog dedicated to the more tangible and physical side of Farm Life. We also have A Life on the Farm, the blog dedicated to the more personal side of Farm Life; parenting, homeschooling, cooking, gardening, relationships, etc.

We will be documenting all of the various steps that we have taken and will be taking in getting our farmstead built, running and growing. We certainly welcome any comments and questions, as we feel like we can all learn from each other.

Upcoming posts will deal with a wide variety of topics such as getting started, building our barn-cheaply, then rebuilding after a devastating fire, so many different farm builds; to include our widely talked about natural swimming pool, various methods of gardening and their trial and error, building our home from the shell that it was, raising various farm animals and so much more. We hope that you enjoy and find something new every time you come visit!
